Set in this period, "Jewel in the Palace" is based on a true story about a legendary girl (Jang-Geum) who became the first woman to be the supreme royal physician of her times. Despite her poor condition as a low class girl in the male dominated society, Jang-Geum overcame a series of social discrimination and landed herself as a royal cook, later becoming the royal physician, then ultimately the physician in charge of the king. She was even given by the king the title "The Great Jang-Geum". The story of her checkered life on her success and breakdown as well as her love story beautifully unfold. "Jewel in the Palace" is sure to touch your heart.

Synopsis: Sueng Hui (Kim Rae Won) is a director who was deeply in love with Hae Soo (Jung Ryu Won). Even though her family was opposed to Sueng Hui, Hae Soo still wanted to marry Sueng Hui. As he is proposing marriage to her in the car, they end up getting into a car accident resulting in Hae Soo's death. The drama takes place 3 years after Hae Soo has passed away. Even after three years, Seung Hui's cannot seem to forget Hae Soo nor put his life back into order. Determined to forget Hae Soo, Sueng Hui takes a trip into the the rural areas of Korea. There, after declaring that he is going to move on with his life and forget about his girlfriend, he goes into town where he sees a girl (Bok Shil) that looks just like his past girlfriend. The resemblence is so startling that he can't help but stare at her and ends up following her. They eventually end up spending a few days together but after parting, end up meeting again when Bok Shil comes to Seoul and ends up working with Sueng Hui.

In numerous funny yet heart-touching moments, Bi vows never to become a pimp again. Yet, his past deeds have caught up with him, and he is soon sought after by the police. Gong's boyfriend, Lee Dong Gun, also does not want to let go of Gong. First love is something beautiful yet painful to these two lovers, who have reunited after ten years to find out that everything is not the same anymore.

Synopsis: The concept of an arranged marriage is often difficult to accept, especially amongst less traditional adolescents today.
